Is this the same as the PU polish a carpenter applies? No, and that's an important difference. Carpenter's PU or melamine polish is a permanent coating applied with sanding and spray equipment. This is a maintenance spray you use yourself between those jobs — it cleans and restores shine on furniture that's already finished.

Will it remove deep scratches? No. It reduces how visible light surface scratches and scuff marks are by evening out the finish. Deep gouges need refinishing.
